DANDRUFF

  • Dandruff (seborrheic dermatitis of the scalp) affects almost 50% of human population.

GREYING OF HAIRS

  • Greying of hairs is a natural phenomenon as part of the ageing process caused by less melanin production.
  • Hair gets colour from melanin pigment produced by melanocytes, and loss of this causes grey or white appearance.
  • Can be due to genetics, stress, nutritional deficiencies, or certain medical conditions.
  • According to Ayurveda, greying is associated with imbalance in body's doshas, particularly Pitta and Vata.
  • Ayurveda views hair as a byproduct of bone tissue, so hair health is closely linked to bone health.
  • When Pitta is aggravated, it leads to premature greying along with inflammation, acidity, and irritability.
  • Ayurvedic approach involves balancing Pitta dosha through dietary changes, lifestyle modifications, procedures, and herbal remedies.
